Applicants must be born between 2002-2011 for the 2019 British Mountaineering Council Youth Climbing Series (BMC YCS) as per Youth E to Youth A Categories below. Similarly, applicants must be climbing French sport 5 or above, and for Youth C - experience lead climbing/belaying is desirable.

Older participants born in 2000 to 2001 might be considered for Junior Catergories for 2019 British Mountaineering Council British Bouldering Championships (BMC BBC) & the British Mountaineering Council British Lead & Speed Climbing Championships (BMC BLCC & BMC BSCC), similarly adult catergories may also be considered - email [email protected] for details.
Please note that our youth team is a coaching session not an instructional session, as such it is desirable for applicants to have experience belaying & tying on to the harness appropriately, & climbing at French sport 5 or above. For Youth C - A, lead climbing experience is desirable - for instructional sessions please refer to our kids clubs, skills courses and climb schools. Those already on the team are expected to attend.
We are very proud to be able to offer professional training and advice for our Youth Climbing Team. For several years we have been running a youth competition team who make the most of our highly experienced and nationally accredited coaches to improve their climbing and take part in national climbing competitions.
Our coaches are accredited by Mountain Training UK as Rock Climbing Instructors, Climbing Wall Development Instructors and National Climbing Coaches for lead climbing activities. Similarly, our coaches are also members of the Mountain Training Association - demonstrating the benefits of ongoing experience & enhanced skills with current good practice by attending mandatory continued professional development. Likewise, our coaches have attended British Mountaineering Council, UK Coaching, Sport Leaders UK & Blind Sports UK coach education workshops such as;
