New for Winter
- Posted 09/11/2011
So now all the craziness of the leading ladder and our Halloween spooktacular has calmed down its time to get down to some serious winter training and climbing fun.
New this winter we have Alpkit fig4's for hire, what are they you ask? Well they were designed originally to enable climbers to train indoors for winter climbing. Sharp and pointy axes and crampons are not the best things to take into climbing walls so the clever boffins at Alpkit designed the perfect solution. They are essentially an ice axe handle with rubber straps where the pointy bit usually is, this means you can loop the rubber over holds and practise most of the manoeuvres of ice climbing but without the fear of spiking you or your mate! They are also an excellent training aid to make you nice and strong and useful if you have a finger injury so that you can keep training. So if you fancy trying something a little different why not hire a set from us? £3.00 for an hour or £5.00 for three hours...go on try it!
The artist wall has been really good this year with several local artists displaying their art. It has been really excellent to have fantastic artwork up in the Lizard Lounge, I even bought one! To mix it up a little bit this winter we are offering you, yes you, the chance to be on our Wall of Fame. If you have a stunning adventure related picture why not display it at the wall. We will pick regular winners who will win the adoration and respect of all of us here...you may even win a little prize. So go on,choose 1 photo to star at your local climbing wall. Print out your picture A5 size or smaller and drop it in to us next time you are climbing, we will do the rest!
